My time to craft challenge

This week's challenge on the My Time to Craft blog is 'No patterned papers' - to create your own background papers. This was not difficult for me as I don't often use patterned papers anyway! On this card I have used some Core'dinatinations Whitewash card that I ran through a Cuttlebug embossing folder, and the background for the quote was stamped with a Tim Holtz texture stamp. The quote and butterfly are stamps by Creative Expressions.

MTTC Challenge: Woman

Another card, this time for the My Time to Craft challenge. Poor Mona, I haven't used this stamp by Tim Holtz for ages! But I decided she deserved an outing for this 'woman' theme. For the background I tried out a technique demonstrated by Jo Capper-Sandon in the April edition of Craft Stamper, wrapping raffia around the card before spraying with Glimmer Mist. Other stamps used here are the flourish by Stampin' Up and flowers by Tanda.

The latest challenge by My Time to Craft is to follow the above sketch. I made a card using Glimmer Mists, a bit of 'cuttling', and a stamp by Crafty Individuals.

Snowman Skinny

Made for the My Time to Craft challenge this week, not to mention a Christmas skinny swap I am involved in. For the background here I tried out a technique that I saw on Sue Roddis's blog - run mirror card through an embossing folder and then add colour with StayzOn inks. The large snowflake is part of a pack I bought in USA when I was on holiday there in September. They are supposed to be strung together to made a garland decoration, but I thought they would look better on some of my Christmas cards this year!

Vintage house with leaves

I made this house for the Dans ma maison... challenge: VINTAGE. But having put the leaves on the front, I thought it would serve for the My Time to Craft challenge of trees and leaves as well!

An ATC: Special and Blue!

I've made this ATC for two challenges - firstly for Florrie's ATC Challenge on Craft Swap Forum and also for the My Time to Craft challenge this week. The MTTC theme is to use only blue (plus a bit of white) and the CSF theme is 'Something Special' - to use a stamp, materials or techniques special to you. I certainly had some special inspiration for this piece from the excellent tutorial by Dan on ink blending, and I was dying to try out my new Tim Holtz ink blenders bought at Archiver's during my holiday. I used three different shades of blue Distress Inks for the background, and then spattered on some water drops (having masked off the circle for the moon first). The stamp of the seagulls was bought in a little shop near Lake Michigan - so it is a lovely reminder of a very special holiday.
Even though I used a stamp positioner, I had great problems getting the quote down the left hand side straight! This was my third attempt and it is still not exactly parallel with the edge of the card!! Oh well, I can always use the 'failed' attempts on next week's Make a Moo challenge which is on the theme of 'wings' (but don't tell anyone).

MTTC Recipe

This week's challenge by My Time to Craft is to use a recipe: 1 ribbon, 1 flower, 2 buttons and some glitter. I had to make a birthday card for a friend so here is my effort - I used Papermania's green felt ribbon from their Secret Garden range at the bottom of the card.

MTTC: Cats

A card made for the My Time to Craft challenge: CATS. The cat stamp is by Tanda and the background papers were free from a craft magazine!

MTTC Challenge

This skinny is for the latest challenge by My Time to Craft : red, black and white. I couldn't resist using this Paper Artsy stamp again - this time on a slightly larger scale than a Moo! I used red Glimmer Mist on the red background card so that it has a gold shimmer to it (sadly this never shows up well in scans!) - so I have also added a few tiny gold accents to the stamped image.

Diwali card

The challenge by My Time to Craft this week is Artfully Asian, so I decided to go with an Indian theme and make a card for Diwali. I know Diwali isn't until the end of October, but if we can make a Chrismas card in July, well .... LOL

Dark hair

I made this ATC for this week's challenge on My Time to Craft blog - the theme was 'Dark Hair'. I used a printed paper for the background and then used two of my favourite stamps: Can hear by Paperbag Studios and Ornamental collage by Stampers Anonymous, and yet another Grungeboard flourish!! I seem to have used pink and brown a lot recently.
